Grape News

Greetings & Newsy Bits
Welcome to  2008, new outlets, more Growers Markets, and some brand new products . We have had to make an  increase to our prices due to the cost of almost everything increasing but the quality & service remains the same - still excellent value for money.

Deletions & New Products
At the start of each new year we always look at ways of stream lining our range of products  which usually ends up with adding new products. This year we have had to make some tough decisions. We have had to discontinue our Encore range due to lack of sales (due to lack of time to sell) and the time to make them encrouching on the production of our Grape Alternative range. This became evident especially in our busier times. We still have some of these products left so if you were after some contact us sooner rather than latter.
We have also dropped our Semillon Chardonnay & Bay Leaf Wine Jelly and our Chardonnay & Chilli Wine Jelly. Although these wine jellies had their following they were not selling well.
We have substituted or Cabernet Rosé & Rosemay Wine Jelly for the  Semillon Chardonnay & Bay Leaf  for our glaze for corned beef. The Cabernet Rosé & Rosemary works well with a grain mustard as the glaze, adding different flavours but the same level of 'yummy'.
Now to new products, over the last two years we have constantly been asked if we produce a chilli jam, so to fill this demand we have produced a Chardonnay Chilli & Garlic Jam, much more than a chilli jam, excellent with salmon fillets, chicken and beef burgers, bbq sausages, rissoles and steak. Chardonny and garlic flavours combine with a chilli heat to liven up anything it is paired with. This jam is a great bed fellow for our Shiraz & Red Onion Marmalade as the ultimate gourmet bbq duo.
Our Amorous Mango & Muscat Syrup has been dropped due to the cost of fruit and we were initially not going to replace it. We have since sourced pears grown locally in Mudgee so Kathryn did  some experimenting and came up with a  Precocious Pear & Liqueur Muscat Syrup.  Great with plum pudding, meringe, icecream, fresh fruit, cream and off course in Champagne to create 'Pear Sublime'.

'07 New Products doing well
Our Cumquat & Liqueur Muscat Wine Jelly has been given the thumbs up from people who have tasted it. On the lead up to Chirstmas we used this jelly as a glaze for baked ham combining it with cloves or star anise to great effect. We ended up cooking three hams as they just seemed to dissapear. I do not know why we only do baked ham at Christmas, it should happen all year round. The Cumquat & Liqueur Muscat Wine Jelly picked up a gold medal last year and has become partners with our Blackberry & Port Wine Jelly as our premium sweet wine jelly range.
The Cumquat & Liqueur Muscat Wine Jelly can be also be eaten with croissants, muffins, toast, cheese and roast pork.
The Pear& Liqueur Muscat Paste, fantastic with brie, or almost any soft cheese, has become a great favourite for our customers at the Good Living Growers Market at Pyrmont (Sydney) each month. We have a stall next to Willowbrae Chèvre Cheese and have matched our paste to their soft curds. Both products leave the market together making the customers very happy.

Farmers/Growers Markets
We now attend four Farmers/Growers Markets a month, 1st Saturday of the month at Pyrmont  for the SMH Good Living Growers Market, the 2nd Saturday we are in Orange for their Farmers Market, 3rd Saturday, Dubbo Farmers Market and on the 4th Saturday we are at the Bathurst Farmers Market. We will also be participating in other events throughout the year . On Sunday 16th March we will be in Newcastle at the Hamilton Wine & Food Fair and at Cronulla on 24th & 25th May for Jazz & Shiraz, this is a great day out, next to the water with wine food and music. Birkenhead Point Mudgee Wine & Food Fair is also coming up on  29th & 30th March at which we will have a presence.
We will endevour to keep including our upcoming events in this space.
